The Hebron organisation is a project designed to save and train people that have been rejected from Taiwanese society. These people cover several demographics: people with alcohol addiction, drug addiction, poverty stricken or those with psychological illness. Our association welcomes all people, regardless of background to share in our co-life community; we live together, work together and enjoy life together. Our organisation is difficult to define as it is quite unique and loosely based on the Jewish Kibbutz living style. Our family has over 250 members living in over 25 properties around the Yang Mei community and consists of all generations from newly born children to the elderly. Our daily life begins with morning class led by our founder, Dr Chen. Though his profession is a pastor, the classes are suitable for anyone looking for spiritual development and we have often been joined by friends from various faiths, such as Catholic, Buddhist and Taoist practitioners. After class we begin our work day. As our organisation has many projects and businesses we have plenty of work for our large family. We have restaurants, bakery, second hand shop, rice and vegetable farms, school, nursery, building department, multi-media centre, library, planning department, financial department, public relations and community care department. All of these departments have been set up to support our way of life and to keep it stable. Our main concern for this centre is twofold: financial and volunteer support. Hebron is now widely known throughout Taiwan and the Taiwanese government recognises our institution and frequently sends people to us who are in need of help. We never refuse anyone who comes to us, and as Taiwan is currently in a social and financial crisis, our work is in great demand, but difficult to finance. Secondly, the majority of the people that come to our centre are those with problems which need to be counselled and trained. As the numbers of stable and skilled individuals capable of helping those in difficulty are in the gross minority, our management staff is greatly pressured. We encourage any and all visitors to our centre. We welcome you if all you wish to do is visit our centre to take a look and better understand the work we do. If you leave with inspiration to help other people, then we are pleased to welcome you. However if you can offer financial support, or offer any volunteer work for us, this would also be greatly appreciated and you could become part of a wonderful movement that is now becoming worldwide. There are many suffering people throughout the world; they do not have to suffer alone.
